Position Summary
The NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology ( SPICE) promotes prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections in North Carolina and beyond by providing evidence based infection control education and consultation across the healthcare spectrum throughout the state. SPICE will be responsible for conducting infection control assessments for a variety of healthcare settings to identify infection prevention gaps that may be present.

The primary purpose of this temporary position is to collect, assess, measure and analyze the ability of hospitals, nursing homes, and ambulatory care clinics to prevent and manage healthcare-associated infections and outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. This position will assist with addressing gaps in infection prevention practices in a variety of healthcare facilities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrates familiarity with infection prevention guidelines and standards.

Certified in Infection Control ( CIC) is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Ability to communicate effectively with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrated extensive knowledge of infection prevention.
* Previous experience providing instruction to nursing and medical staff on disease processes, infection prevention techniques and best practices highly desired.
* Previous public speaking experience also preferred.
