JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Penn State Beaver Housing and Food Services is seeking a dependable and proactive Hourly Supervisor to support daily operations in both residential and dining services. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and guests.
Job Duties
- Staff Coordination & Communication
- Contact student employees who miss scheduled shifts.
- Track call-outs and determine appropriate coverage solutions.
- Customer Service & Front-Line Support
- Provide friendly and professional service to students and guests.
- Ensure a welcoming and responsive environment in all service areas.
- Package & Inventory Management
- Enter and distribute packages using eLiving.
- Assist with weekly inventory tasks and ensure accurate reporting.
- Point of Sale (POS) Operations
- Operate the register efficiently, resolving any customer concerns.
- Process refunds and adjust menu items based on daily availability.
- Facilities & Safety Oversight
- Monitor and track maintenance requests ("Fixits") and collaborate with Housing staff to resolve issues.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of the residence halls.
- Contact University Police in case of emergencies requiring immediate response.
- Communicate with backup managers any accidents, major issues or emergencies.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and guests.
- Comfortable using technology Point of Sales System and web applications.
- Ability to remain calm and act appropriately in emergency situations.
- Reliable, organized, and able to make decisions independently.
Schedule: Saturday's and varying other days Compensation: The starting rate for this job is $15.00 per hour. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
