SUMMARY The Zuora Systems Manager serves as the functional manager and subject-matter expert for Avetta's billing and revenue platforms, with primary responsibility for defining billing system requirements, automation strategy, and roadmap execution in partnership with the IT engineering team. This role bridges billing operations and technical delivery by translating business needs into scalable system solutions, platform stability, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate combines knowledge of subscription billing operations, the ability to architect automation patterns, and the curiosity to proactively identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience. This position is not responsible for hands-on software engineering but will guide development, oversee and perform configuration/customization, validate engineering solutions, and drive adoption across the billing organization and Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) teams. If residing within commutable distance to one of our offices, a hybrid schedule would be requested, (3 days in office, 2 days work from home). Remote work may be considered for those outside of commutable distance to an office. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
 
 Serve as the functional manager of the Zuora platform, ensuring billing and revenue rules, pricing logic, and subscription behavior are accurately modeled.This position will have two or more direct reports, responsible for supporting billing operations, exception handling, and process execution across client and supplier accounts.Provide day-to-day support and root-cause leadership on complex billing issues, coordinating cross-functional teams to drive resolution.Manage configuration of Zuora product catalog, rate plan charges, and discount structures.Define business requirements and architectural direction for Zuora Workflows, automation, and integrations.Partner with IT engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, auditable, and aligned with future-state billing strategy.Validate functional requirements, perform UAT, and ensure successful deployment.Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with system-driven workflows, including exceptions handling, invoicing logic, and data synchronization.Monitor automation coverage and drive continuous improvement based on volume trends and error patterns.Represent Billing in requirements gathering, sprint grooming, and prioritization discussions.Act as liaison between Billing, Accounting, IT, FP&A, BI, and Product teams to align processes across Q2C.Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of billing system projects including new product launches, process improvements, pricing model changes, and system upgrades.Provide subject-matter expertise on subscription behavior for new product launches, pricing models, and regional expansions.Partner with BI to translate complex billing logic into enterprise reporting (Snowflake/Power BI), reducing reliance on ad hoc reporting.Ensure data definitions and calculations remain consistent and well-documented across teams.Create internal training materials, process documentation, and billing logic playbooks to document institutional knowledge and streamline onboarding of new team members.Coach billing team members and stakeholders on system capabilities, constraints, and best practices by identifying training needs and facilitating learning opportunities related to billing operations, revenue, Zuora, and automation best practices.Proactively recommend enhancements that improve billing accuracy, reduce leakage, support revenue recognition, and reduce operational friction.Lead periodic reviews of industry best practices in subscription billing automation and propose roadmap updates.Lead, mentor, and develop a team of billing analysts fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.Oversee team workload allocation ensuring effective prioritization and timely completion of deliverables.
 
 IDEAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TRAINING: 
 
 
 Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.6+ years of experience in subscription billing operations, system administration, or related functional operations.4+ years of hands-on experience with Zuora Billing required; Zuora Revenue experience preferred.Working knowledge of subscription concepts (MRR, proration, upgrades/downgrades, revenue share, tiering).Experience designing and operationalizing workflow automation patterns.Strong understanding of Q2C lifecycle, product catalogs, and billing logic.Familiarity with data reporting tools (SQL, Snowflake) preferred.Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with technical engineering teams.

The final compensation offered to a candidate will be determined by several factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The salary range for this position is $112,000 - $127,00.00 per year. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), and PTO.
