The Emergency Department is a 28-bed level III, emergency department, established to provide care for individuals with acute medical or surgical illnesses or injuries for which immediate medical attention is required or desired.

Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards. Must possess the ability to supervise LPNs, CNAs, Techs, Unit Secretaries, and Clinical students. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.

Job Description:

RN-ER-PRN

Assessment and Evaluation (35%)

  • Perform and document initial and ongoing assessments.

  • Update plan of care each shift; set measurable goals.

  • Evaluate patient response and communicate status.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and quality improvement.

Provide Care Accordingly (20%)

  • Deliver care per policy and MD orders.

  • Implement nursing and education plans.

  • Handle emergencies and facilitate patient flow.

  • Monitor staff compliance.

Critical Thinking (15%)

  • Delegate tasks appropriately.

  • Respond effectively in emergent situations.

  • Use SBAR and ARCC for communication.

  • Promote safety and attention to detail.

Organizational & Leadership Skills (20%)

  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork.

  • Prioritize and organize workload.

  • Provide accurate reports and delegate tasks.

  • Act as role model and resource; support orientation and growth.

Training, Compliance & Meetings (10%)

  • Attend safety and mandatory training.

  • Maintain licensure and complete education.

  • Comply with regulations and report violations.

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.

  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.

  • Basic Life Support.

  • Glucometer Training

  • Basic Cardiac Arrythmia within 6 months

  • NIH Stroke Certification within 6 months

  • 12 Lead within 6 months

  • Nurse Wound Care within 30 days

  • Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) within 6 months
