The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Assists the clinical staff in providing technical aspects of care under direction of the clinical team. Assists the healthcare team with carrying out the patient's plan of care following established hospital and departmental policy and procedures.Obtains patient blood samples by venipuncture or capillary puncture using aseptic techniques and collection skills appropriate to the age and level of difficulty of the patient. Performs all duties integral to the identification / preparation of specimens for assay. Assures the office drawing station complies with regulatory agencies, hospital and department policy and procedures. Arranges / or delivers specimens to the appropriate laboratory for processing, reviews specimen requisitions to assure they are completed properly and records and routes the specimen results to the appropriate provider for review. Performs clerical functions in support of the clerical staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Medical Assistant Certification Preferred.
  • Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech training with knowledge of medical terminology, registration, coding, experience with customer service and medical office responsibilities Required.

Preferred:

  • Medical Assistant Certification

Essential Functions:

  • Inputs data as needed or directed and accurately
  • Interacts with patients and handles patient inquiries in a professional manner. Responds to inquiry or passes to the appropriate staff member for follow up
  • Prepares and maintains patient medical records in a neat and orderly manner according to department protocol
  • Takes patient vital signs and document in patient record.
  • Transports medications to and from the pharmacy.
