Compensation Grade: P14Compensation Details: Minimum: $53,357.00 - Maximum: $53,357.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OPH) Office of Public HealthJob Description: Job Summary The Public Health Specialist I will perform and/or assist in performing activities related to physical inspections and surveys of facilities within the jurisdiction served by the District Office. The incumbent will assist to support the evaluation of environmental health conditions and document violations of the State Sanitary Code. The incumbent will also conduct emergency response work; collect environmental samples for laboratory testing; provide general information and technical assistance in response to emerging issues, such as wastewater surveillance, or other public health programs; enter data into environmental health program databases; and perform other appropriate related duties. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of experience in a public health, human services or health related program/organization field; OR four years of such experience. Preferred Qualification Bachelor's degree in a related Natural Science. Experience in inspection, investigation, or surveillance of environmental health conditions, and/or regulatory code compliance to improve the health and safety of the public. Experience conducting inspections at operations permitted/regulated by a governmental entity; Public speaking; Technical writing; Experience using Microsoft Access and Excel; Experience inputting data and extracting data. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel up to 25% of the time will be required The incumbent in this position may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
