Located in Southeast Ohio, Wellston is a manufacturing facility of approx. 1,000 dedicated employees serving the Totino's brand in the Snacks Operating Unit. The Assistant Plant Manager will have the responsibility of leading Zero Loss Culture (including Safety & Training) and Plant End to End Processes (including Logistics and Subsystems Operations). This person will report directly to the Plant Manager and sit on the Plant Leadership Team. The team consists of 4 direct reports (Safety Manager, Training Leader, Logistics Manager, and Subsystems Operations Manager), approximately 16 support team members and 200 production team members. This position requires considerable interaction with plant floor personnel, leadership team members, and Snacks Supply Chain team members. The person in this role develops strategies and leads teams to reduce human and food safety risks, drive out losses to increase reliability and decrease waste, deliver Cost Per Case and HMM, enable growth, and build culture. This person needs to be a change agent for engagement.

The Assistant Plant Manager is the right hand of the Plant Manager, is involved in all strategic discussions at the plant level and will interface directly with our business partners on strategies and solutions to support business needs at the site level. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute as an integral part of the plant leadership team to drive the plant strategy and culture
  • Coach, develop and inspire work group to achieve required Human Safety, Food Safety, and Production Results
  • Develop short and long-term strategies to drive, productivity, organizational effectiveness and improvements in key plant priorities and metrics
  • Create an environment where all employees are encouraged and developed to reach their full potential in meeting department and business goals. Lead processes and behaviors to build capability at the production-employee level in the organization
  • Foster a strong working partnership with all functions to support plant objectives
  • Ensure efficient, safe, and sanitary processing and packaging working towards zero losses
  • Ensure production facilities and finished products meet the company and government standards of quality, sanitation, and safety
  • Provide business leadership that demonstrates daily commitment to company, department, and plant goals
  • Ensure effective interchange of information between operations department and support departments

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required: Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Leadership or related field of study
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with the floor including building positive employee relations
  • Ability to deliver results through others by managing salaried employees and/or leading cross functional teams
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to effectively lead change
  • Ability to create and lead strategic initiatives
  • Solid business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving capabilities
  • Good financial analysis and resource allocation skills; experience developing productivity
  • Ability to develop and manage a budget

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $126700.00 - $190100.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
