Job Scope

This position fulfills all training needs and demands as required by the field, customers, and other personnel. Create training courses, along with certification, using the current training management software. Provide service/support to customers, FSE's and other DiaSorin personnel with regards to instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair and training - in particular escalated situations. Develop all FSE's to ensure a sustainable business model. Lead by example, on and off site. Be a coach to the engineers, customers, and others as it supports DiaSorin's business objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities


  • Conduct and manage all CLIA instrumentation training processes that are designed to develop a highly skilled workforce and customer base capable of delivering results consistent with corporate goals and objectives.


  • Participate in the development and delivery of internal training programs.


  • Formally and informally lead the training and coaching of others in area of competencies where appropriate.


  • Participate in formal and informal training required to increase skills to meet work expectations.


  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training process and programs.


  • Promote and encourage the use of tools available including Bomgar, LiaConsole, WAF analysis, and others as they become available to increase service effectiveness; both on-site and prior to arriving on-site


  • Provide technical leadership related to instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs to facilitate good customer relations.


  • Evaluate and recommend new instrument systems by performing minimum requirement assessments and producing corporate reports.


  • Provide technical training and support infrastructure for new systems.


  • Assist Field Personnel in order to meet Corporate goals including but not limited to Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), overall EPI (Engineer Performance Index), and it's 3 main components: 1) Service Time 2) Spare Part Cost, and TBV (time between visits), for Diasorin's instrumentation.


  • Develop service plans aimed at improving processes and containing costs for all instrument platforms.


  • Discover new methods to maintain and elevate current NPS (net promoter score) and customer satisfaction scores.


  • Retain current business.


  • Grow new business.


  • Look for opportunities to expand the current testing menu.


  • Develop leadership competencies and foster an environment that results in a risk-taking, energetic, and accountable workforce that work together to fulfill corporate objectives.


  • Promote open channels of communication throughout the organization through continual thoughtful and open communications.


  • Actively participate in team meetings and act as a resource for the group.


  • Actively facilitate in sharing of information across the organization in a way that results in good coordination of actions and decisions, and continuous improvement of results and performance.

  • Take responsibility for customer satisfaction through proper use of soft/people skills and engage the support of other personnel as required.


  • Develop technical training courses.


  • Understand and utilize documentation protocols and accurately and legibly complete all documentation on time to result in a product/process history consistent with GMP requirements.


  • Follow established DiaSorin's compliance procedures designed to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met; activities may include audits, documentation, and the understanding of the requirements of agencies such as OSHA, EPA, NRC, CLIA and FDA.
  • Mentor and coach FSE's and other technical personnel via phone, email and at customer sites on using the proper maintenance, repair and troubleshooting processes to meet customer expectations and manufacturers specifications.


  • Coordinate service call escalation process to avoid instrument replacements.


  • Support LAS and integration activities as needed


  • Give recommendations to current part Reorder Points based on instrument forecast and/or an increased frequency of certain component failures


  • Prepare regular technical meetings with FSE's based on feedback from the field, new technical notes, and new experiences as necessary.


  • Provide feedback to Corporate Service on changes needed to technical procedures or part/system improvement ideas


Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • 4+ Years in a science or technology field required


  • 2+ Years in Biomedical Equipment Technology, AA Electronics, Engineering Technician or equivalent required


  • 4+ Years of established field experience required


  • 2+ Years of proven success as a DiaSorin Field Service Engineer required


  • 2+ Years as a Biomedical Equipment, Electronics or Field Service/Laboratory Support Technician, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required


  • Conduct training sessions that pertain to the proper maintenance and repair of DiaSorin instrumentation


  • Present technical information in formal settings, including demonstrations at Conferences, Exhibits, and customer sites


  • Contribute to service process improvement


  • Do preventative maintenance and troubleshooting with reference to manufacturer's manual


  • Demonstrate and explain correct operation of equipment


  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to handle multiple activities in a professional manner


  • Knowledge and skill in installing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibration, and maintaining medical diagnostic or clinical laboratory instrumentation


  • Knowledge and understanding of electronics, medical terminology, chemistry, and physics


  • Knowledge and understanding of basic immunology and immunoassay technology


  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)


  • Understanding of good laboratory practices and techniques


  • Knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Office applications


  • Familiarity with Google Suite

Licenses and Certifications

  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State required

Travel Requirements

  • Travel: Frequent - up to 80%
