Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Survey Project Manager to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong background in managing survey projects and delivering precise, timely results. In this role, you will:

    Lead survey operations, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and ensure the successful execution of projects in both the public and private sector land improvement projects.
  • Responsible for all aspects of a surveying and geomatics group, overseeing both field and office operations including field crews and technical staff supporting public and private sector land improvement projects.
  • Initiate and maintain professional relationships with key personnel and officials across various organizations and companies.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise survey crews, technicians, and other staff to ensure efficient and accurate project execution.
  • Administer contracts and manage projects by interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments; schedule and assign work to meet project deadlines.
  • Lead the planning and development of surveying projects involving unique or controversial challenges; explore subject areas and develop innovative concepts and approaches.
  • Prepare detailed proposals for potential surveying and geomatics projects.
  • Independently manage all aspects of monthly billing processes.


Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in surveying management, leading teams and overseeing complex projects.
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina.
  • 15+ years of land surveying experience, including extensive work with NCDOT and the City of Charlotte.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Proficient in survey computations and platting using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and OpenRoads.
  • Field experience with Trimble and Leica survey equipment, including GPS and robotic total stations.
  • Skilled in survey data management using Trimble or Android-based devices.
  • Strong self-motivation and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Attend networking events and client meetings to generate new business opportunities in the region.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Google Earth is a plus.
  • Thorough working knowledge of GPS technologies and their application in land surveying.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employment.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with company MVR policy.
