***Remote / telework is approved for this position*** Job Summary: VSolvit is seeking a Mid-Level Database Administrator (DBA) to provide Information Technology Engineering and support services to the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). As part of a dynamic technical team, the DBA will manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise application databases to ensure high availability, data integrity, and system performance. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term database initiatives in a secure Navy environment. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities:
- Provide System Administration and Database Administration support for Conventional, Production, and Test instances
- Maintain test and development server systems at the Contractor's facility
- Maintain the Bug enhancement tracking tool
- Support database backups, imports, exports, and data refreshes
- Maintain the Oracle Server instances by conducting software updates, patch installation, security configurations, settings, and documentation as applicable and necessary to attaining or maintaining the ATO
- Assist with the certification, upgrading and patching of all database products
- Establishes rules and procedures for the sharing of data with leadership, project teams, stakeholders, and end users
- Operates interdepartmentally, often serving as a project team member
- Provide criteria, requirements, and solutions relating to database monitoring
- Assist analysts with complex tuning and schema refinement
- Install and patch database management software
- Participate in projects to ensure database configuration and design compliance
- Manage database access and develop processes for optimizing database security
- Install, update and manage database applications
- Generate reports
- Analyzing user application/programming requests and developing/recommending solutions and time estimates
- Assisting and advising users in report generation, including writing data queries for accreditation reports and other purposes
- Coordinating database checkpoint frequencies, archive logging, resource usage with programmers and system Administrators
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and at least three (3) years of relevant administrative experience
- Knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization
- Experience with database backup/recovery and high-availability configurations
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Team player and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Strong analytic, quantitative, logic, and reasoning skills
- Experience supporting mission critical production systems is required
- Administers, maintains, and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database(s)
- United States Citizenship require
- Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one
- If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Navy or DoD IT environments
- Familiarity with NAVSEA systems and operational requirements
