Job Summary:

VSolvit is seeking a Cyber Security / Information Assurance Engineer in support of NAVSEA at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing security logs, conducting data-driven investigations, and generating reports to communicate findings and recommendations to relevant teams. Additionally, you will collaborate with other cybersecurity professionals, business analysts, and end-users to develop and implement customized solutions to strengthen the organization's security defenses, including the design and integration of workflows and data analytics tools. You will provide expertise in RMF and cybersecurity activities and lead teams or workgroups.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to assist in managing, maintaining, and providing Cybersecurity
  • Provide technical support and assistance by reviewing, assessing, and complying with policies, standards, guidelines and procedures established by the Defense Information Security Agency, Department of Navy Chief Information Officer, and NAVSEA CIO
  • Maintain the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Prepare Standard Operation Procedures, configuration, and other documentation that the NAVSEA Cybersecurity office may need to attain or maintain an ATO
  • Ensure configuration documentation is readily available to maintain the Authority to Operate (ATO), resolve issues, facilitate audits, and maintain continuity
  • Review documents such as current system specifications, standard operating procedures, methods, data forms, and reports to gain a knowledge foundation
  • Maintain the individual name space(s) within the application when conducting patch installation, security configurations, settings, and documentation as applicable and necessary to attaining or maintaining the ATO
  • Document any Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)s or other security settings that interrupt system operations in accordance with cybersecurity mandates and guidance
  • Maintain system application by conducting software updates, patch installation, security configurations, and settings as applicable and necessary to attaining or maintaining the ATO
  • The Contractor shall document any STIGs or other security settings that interrupt system operations
  • Assess impacts from observed risks and report via the Cybersecurity Program chain of command
  • Perform the evaluation of system administrator, security engineer, and/or system owner proposed corrections to ensure compliance and best-fit solution
  • Present and submit data to management, develop reports, and produce procedural documentation in a comprehensive and cohesive manner
  • Perform remediation, patching, scanning and associated boundary maintenance risk management and security engineering for assigned systems

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school degree, or a GED, and more than ten (10) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization or
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization or Master's degree in Cybersecurity
  • Advanced understanding DOD STIGs and ability to provide direction based on STIGs
  • Expertise with US Navy Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Able to work in team environments and independently
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret security regulations
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve network/operating system security issues
  • Writing technical documentation, procedures and/or guidelines, Training, Systems/Equipment Integration, Production Release or Installation.
  • Have worked with Information Assurance tools such as DISA Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS),
  • Must be a US Citizen and have or able to obtain security clearance
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a pots-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

  • Prior DoD systems experience.
