The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division provides these services to people in need. JOB SUMMARY Coordinates the Recovery Home and Intake Department by evaluating clients for admission to Harbor Light programs under established criteria of admission; presents cases with recommendations to the Review Board; operates under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision
- Supervision is provided to the Peer Support Specialist, Intake Counselor, and Support Staff.
- Program Administration
- Telephone calls and walk-in clients are screened for appropriateness for further evaluation based on admission policies, programs and procedure; issues appointments for evaluations; clients are evaluated and arrangements made for their medical screening and psychiatric evaluations.
- Cases are presented for admission to the Review Board meeting; decisions made by the Review Board are implemented.
- Records are kept and other related papers are sent to departments as required in a timely manner.
- A good working relationship is maintained with referring agencies and V.A. hospitals; our services, policies, and procedures are explained in response to inquiries from the community or other social service agencies.
- Record keeping functions are performed and statistical and other required reports are prepared.
- Administrative policies & procedures of the Harbor Light Center are maintained with cooperative and responsive to the Director of Clinical Programs.
- Client Interaction
- Clients are admitted to Transitional Living Unit (TLU) who are at risk due to a physical or mental condition and approved by the Director of Clinical Programs; IV drug users are admitted to TLU on a priority basis; those clients who are in transition from one level of care to another are admitted to TLU.
- Clients are transferred from TLU to other units when beds become available; clients are discharged from TLU when approved by the Review Board or due to relapses or violent behavior.
- Other Duties
- The work of the clinic's staff committees is participated in.
- Will make presentation on behalf of OPC at Review Board meetings.
- Seminars, conferences and other meetings are attended when requested.
- Special administrative assignments or clinical tasks are performed as may be delegated by the Director of Clinical Programs.
- All other duties as assigned.

- Education: CADC is required.
- Some College is preferred.
- Experience: At least four years and experience as a counselor in the addictions field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is required to do light physical work.
- In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC.
- Must be able to walk up two flights of stairs and lift up to 25lbs.
- The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low to high noise level. It is possible the person may have to use defensive techniques with aggressive clients.
- Must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance abuse problems.

- This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will keep the Director of Clinical Services informed on all critical issues relating to her/his area of responsibility.
- This individual will adhere to all Army policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
