Job Summary
The Community Engagement department within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education is recruiting Component Leader/Teacher for the FIU All-Stars middle school enrichment program. The Component Leader/Teacher will implement literacy, fitness and social skills activities, as well as, assist in the implementation of Choice Classes and develops lesson plans, supervise students and administers all required assessments.

Duties include:

  • Supervises students at all times
  • Prepares weekly lesson plans and activities that reflect the required program curriculum and interacts with students to ensure that all students are always engage in the learning process
  • Works in conjunction with outside contractors as directed to assure the smooth delivery of enrichment activities
  • Completes attendance accurately and reports absentees to the manager
  • Follows The Code of Student Conduct when disciplining students
  • Assists with the distribution, supervision, and clean-up of snacks in the cafeteria
  • Reports disruptive behavior to the program manager
  • Follows proper reporting of time worked by adhered to M-DCPS sign-in/out procedures and notifying the program manager of any absences in advance
  • Reports areas of concern to the program manager
  • Activity leaders must follow their schedules accurately. It is important to know where each student is at all times. If there is an emergency or a change of plan, the program manager needs to be notified immediately
  • Prepares supplies, materials, and other items needed before meeting the students. Discipline problems will be minimal if the students are engaged in meaningful, challenging and fun activities from the start of the class
  • Homework completion is an important component of the program. A quiet environment is needed during homework time. Component Leader/Teacher must walk around, assist and supervise the students and maintain an atmosphere conducive to studying and learning
  • Participates in professional development activities
  • Ensures cleanliness of classrooms, auditorium, and other areas where the program is held
  • Must attend mandatory monthly in-house program meetings and training sessions as well as checks e-mail daily

Minimum Qualifications

"Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related discipline.

Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) 45 hours Child Care Facility Training.

Florida Child Care Staff Credentialing Certificate must be obtained within 60 days.

CPR/Standard First Aid Certification must be obtained within 30 days.

Must be current Miami-Dade County Public School employee withat least one year of experience working with children within the school system or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related discipline. Certified teachers preferred.



Work Schedule

1:00pm - 6:00pm



Advertised Salary

$19-26 per hour
