We are recruiting a hands-on Payroll Manager for a growing company in the Raleigh, NC area. In this role, you will oversee payroll operations across the company and play a key role in integrating new processes as the organization continues to grow. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving, and upbeat work environment, this could be your next opportunity Responsibilities: Lead the payroll function, managing multi-state payroll cycles with varying pay frequencies. Ensure payroll is prepared, reviewed, and approved on time and with precision, oversee payroll data collection, entry, and compliance Become the go-to expert for complex payroll matters, tax compliance, and problem resolution. Serve as primary liaison with external payroll providers, driving improvements and automation in processes. Design and implement standardized payroll procedures serving as a foundation for continued growth Partner with HR and Operational teams to support business initiatives Maintain compliance at federal, state, and local levels Manage workers' compensation coding and reporting across all entities. Lead payroll integrations during mergers & acquisitions to ensure a seamless transition for employees. Provide payroll data for month-end close, reporting, and audits. Requirements: Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, compliance, and multi-state payroll administration. Experience with payroll systems and integrations, plus a knack for improving processes. Comfort navigating both the big picture and the day-to-day details. A collaborative mindset and ability to build trust across teams.
