Job Summary Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the OFS Supervisor will be responsible for supervising services, staff and synchronization of the operational services for Periodontology (50%), Oral Medicine Clinics (50%), including Faculty Practice, Postgraduate Clinic, and the Predoctoral Clinic. The incumbent will perform the supervision of the patient reception, scheduling, staffing, and clinical oversight and will ensure patient-centric access services are delivered smoothly and efficiently.
Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, as well as collaborating with the department leadership, the OFS supervisor will assist in management decisions and strategic planning as it relates to the implementation of departmental policies and procedures, and will provide analysis in a variety of complex situations encompassing all areas of responsibility. They will also work with the Dental Center Patient Billing Unit to enhance billing workflows/procedures across Periodontology and Oral Medicine clinics.
The OFS Supervisor will serve as a liaison between faculty, residents, and staff, and will collaborate with Dental Center leadership to identify and proactively mitigate issues that create barriers to clinic access and patient flow. The supervisor will be responsible for creating and maintaining a goal-oriented climate of cross-team collaboration for effective problem solving, conflict resolution, support for organizational values, and standard work. This placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $79,000 - $118,600 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Department of Orofacial Sciences is an exciting academic and clinical enterprise, the role of which is teaching and practicing the diagnosis and treatment of localized and systemic oral diseases and developmental conditions and advancing knowledge about them.
Several clinical disciplines comprise this Department including Craniofacial Anomalies, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and Periodontology. Cross-disciplinary clinical, teaching and research activities characterize this Department, which benefits from strong interactions within the Dental School, other campus Schools and the Medical Center. Educational activities are broad, providing both predoctoral and postdoctoral students alike with a strong basis of knowledge and clinical experience. Postgraduate programs in Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontology and Oral Medicine complete the department's instructional activities. Research in the Department covers a broad spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical sciences that complement the clinical activities of the Department.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
- 1-3 years supervisory/lead experience.
- Solid knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and / or personnel management within labor contract(s) and personnel policy.
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
- Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Knowledge of human resources management policies with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others.
- Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolution.
- Solid knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
- Solid organizational and customer service skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Solid interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Working knowledge of medical/dental office skills. Strong computer skills. Must stay current on new features of appointment/billing and EHR system). Experience with computerized appointment and dental billing system.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Exceptional telephone skills. Excellent communication, data entry and organizational skills. Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in and effective and courteous manner. Must be a team player who works well with staff, faculty and patients.
- Must be able to work independently, under stress in a busy clinic environment, and to set priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year supervisory and/or lead experience in dental or medical settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology.
- Knowledge of dental billing and medical billing.
