The UNM Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, is seeking a Medical Education Program Manager to oversee all aspects of the department's medical training program including Residency, Fellowships, Psychology Interns, and Psychiatry Clerkship. The program manager must be a great communicator, able to collaborate with a variety of people in a fast-paced environment, be extremely organized, adept at managing changing priorities, and maintain complete confidentiality. This highly motivated, team-oriented person will liaise with the Department Administrator, Education Program Directors, UNM's GME office to establish and manage procedures for behavioral health training in compliance with accrediting entities, university, state, and federal policies and regulations. Duties require successful supervisory experience, expertise with multiple MS Office programs and specialized application systems, basic accounting, hiring contracts and purchasing, as well as experience with medical education programs.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership in the execution of day-to-day medical education program activities, supporting residents, fellows, medical students, staff and faculty
  • Oversees the supervision of medical education personnel, to include work allocation, training, promotion, and enforcement of internal procedures and controls; provides problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; coaches and motivates employees
  • Oversees all facets of the acceptance of candidates into medical residency programs and fellowships to include recruitment, selection, and onboarding
  • Oversees the complex process of clinical rotation scheduling for residents and fellows; ensures that all rotation schedules are fully supported by appropriate sites and preceptors
  • Oversees the development and implementation of systems and processes to establish and maintain mandatory records
  • Oversees the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data and presents comprehensive reports and evaluations in accordance with accreditation standards; tracks participant progress through the program for completion of requirements; coordinates information required for ongoing program recertification's
  • Oversees marketing activities of all educational programs
  • Develops and implements new programs, projects, policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the varied education programs
  • Manages funding allocations; approves and monitors budget expenditures; provides fiscal direction to the division

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are supervisory level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in medical residency/fellowships, accreditation and certification requirements, preferably ACGME

* Knowledge and experience in accounting, purchasing, event planning and trainee/student recruitment

* Proven experience in supervision, coaching and training

* Advanced Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Teams, SmartSheet, UNM Banner

* Expertise in complex scheduling and program implementation
