Overview The Commercial Solution Area and Cloud and AI Platforms (CAIP) Go-to-Market (GTM) are pivotal in driving innovation and delivering comprehensive solutions to our customers. The CAIP Go-to-Market (GTM) team connects product, field, and customer needs - building GTM plans,enabling field teams with programs, tools, and technical guidance, and partnering with engineering to refine products based on feedback. As the Sr. Director of Core Migration & Modernization (M&M) focused on Go-to-Market strategy you will build and land high-impact sales plays and motions that accelerate core migrations to Azure and embed modernization at every step. You will partner closely with stakeholders to drive integrated go-to-market outcomes, and with field teams to land these plays in each region. Your role is to grow migration market share by showcasing Microsoft's unique and differentiated value from Windows and SQL Server expertise to open-source workload support all while ensuring migrations are executed in a secure, compliant, and AI-ready manner. ResponsibilitiesCore M&M GTM Strategy & Execution: Lead the end-to-end Migration & Modernization go-to-market strategy across Windows/.NET and Linux/Open-Source workloads. Translate strategic priorities into clear execution plans and KPIs for the M&M solution play, aligning product, marketing, and field teams toward accelerated Azure growth. Drive business performance to meet or exceed targets for migration volume and Azure consumption, adjusting tactics based on data and field feedback.Solution Play Development & Landing: Develop compelling sales plays and sales motions for core migrations (e.g. Windows and SQL Server to Azure, Linux and PostgreSQL to Azure services). Package these plays with clear value propositions, playbooks, and seller guidance. Land these plays worldwide by enabling field sales and technical teams - ensure sellers have the assets, training, and incentives to execute effectively. Continuously refine plays through pilot programs and learnings from the field and align to offers to drive execution. Tooling Integration & Innovation: Drive integration of migration tooling and programs into our GTM motions to accelerate outcomes. Partner with engineering teams (e.g. Azure Migrate, modernization tooling, and third-party partners) to align product capabilities with GTM needs. Advocate for new tool features or offers that remove blockers and speed up migrations. Leverage programs (funding offers, partner incentives) to catalyze more and faster migrations and ensure field teams know how to use them in customer engagements.Modernization & AI-Ready Outcomes: Ensure that application and database modernization is embedded into every migration scenario. For each sales play, incorporate guidance on modernizing legacy apps and databases as part of the migration journey. Champion "secure, AI-ready" migrations that emphasize cloud security and provide a foundation for AI/analytics workloads. This leader makes certain that migrated workloads are optimized for the cloud and poised to deliver innovation, not just lifted and shifted.Competitive Differentiation: Build competitive differentiation into the core GTM. Develop strategies to win share from competitors by highlighting Microsoft's unique strengths. Equip field teams with collateral and tactics to position Azure as the top choice for both Windows and Linux-based workload migrations. Track market and competitor moves in the migration space (competitive offers, tooling, incentives) and adjust our approach to stay ahead. Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration: Lead a matrixed v-team of stakeholders across engineering, product marketing, field sales, Global Black Belts (GBB), partner teams, and finance to drive unified execution. Coordinate with peer GTM leaders in adjacent solution areas (Data Platform, AI Apps, Security) to ensure integration across the platform. Break down organizational silos so that tooling, programs, and field guidance all work together toward our migration goals. Provide regular business updates to executives on progress, blockers, and support needed.Field Enablement & Performance Management: Inspire and enable field organizations (sales regions, CSU, partners) to execute the M&M strategy. Engage directly with field leaders and Strategic Pursuit teams to drive usage of our plays in top opportunities. Monitor pipeline and performance metrics (e.g. migration wins, Azure consumption from migrations, compete win rates) and glean insights to course-correct the GTM approach. Recognize and scale successful tactics from one area to others. Provide clarity on "what good looks like" and ensure accountability by tracking results against defined KPIs and core priorities.
