1 Year Limited Term Environment Education Specialist

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is on the lookout for a 1 Year Limited Term Environment Education Specialist to work in the Southcentral Region of Pennsylvania. In this engaging role, you will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and development of wildlife education programs for schools, conservation organizations, community groups, and interested parties throughout the twelve counties of the Southcentral Region of the state. An Environment Education Specialist represents the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) at wildlife focused programs. Work includes conducting and assisting with educational programs, interacting with the public, and providing information and answering inquiries related to wildlife conservation and PGC programs. You will have the opportunity to assist with setting up and working exhibits and assisting in developing and conducting innovative educational and other programs. Communication skills will be key as you assist with regional marketing, outreach, and schedule, coordinate and implement program and trainings.

Other duties to include but not limited to:

• Assisting with the Junior Game Warden Camp in the region
• Assisting with volunteer programs and recruiting volunteers
• Recording and editing informational videos and photos related to agency business for use in a variety of applications such as Game News, Social Media, etc.
• Preparing virtual learning materials
• Assisting with the Southcentral Region Facebook and social media

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• 1 Year Limited Term, Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• Some weekend work may be necessary.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment:

• Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
• Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform.
