Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Ground Test Operation Leader to join our Team based in Mobile, AL

Position Summary: The Operations Leader (supervisor) is responsible for technical leadership along with oversight of all manufacturing activities within the purview of the Station, and ensuring effective coordination between the multiple processes supervised. Station responsibility includes the management of all tools and jigs belonging to the Station as well

as their maintenance, repair and calibration. As designated act as the deputy for the Business Unit Leader in their absence.

Your working environment:

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your Challenges

  • Manage and lead the Ground Test Team (Ground Test Team + Test Tool Shop Team)

  • Participate in assessing the right personnel placement according to needs and the employees' qualification (present and future)

  • Make sure that Industrial Safety Regulations are strictly respected. Guide and support the employees to individual responsibility and self-control

  • Optimization of the Ground Test flow including implementation of new innovations.

  • Integrate American and European Teams.

  • Responsible for production activities of the Ground Test team.

  • Forecast manpower requirements based on workload and skill set to meet the delivery schedule

  • Identify and eliminate problems, which occur in the manufacturing process, as quickly and as early as possible. Anticipate, wherever possible

  • Monitor and insure the permanent operability of all Ground Test equipment, tools and accessories. Drive the process within the Integrated Teams by identifying disturbances and actively involve the interfaces to insure their elimination

  • Planning and controlling the work progress

  • Ensure the performing of the specified work packages in compliance with costs, quality specifications and OSHA requirements

  • Support procurement of consumable materials as well as tools and other equipment

  • Insure orders and (work) material availability to guarantee work progress

  • Participate in achieving the annual objectives (e.g. CI, Quality Gates and specific KPIs)

  • Ensure a close contact with the Ground Test Engineering department in Hamburg, Germany

  • Responsible for A/C documentation for Hand Over to next Station and also FOT (PIR-book, Folio, NC, Intervention Cards, Removal-Sheet-Book, etc.)

Your Boarding Pass

  • A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent field or an equivalent combination of academic and/or vocational education and direct operational experience.

  • 5 years of experience in Aviation (Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes, methods...)

  • 2 + Years of leadership experience in Aviation Production

  • Knowledge of Quality / Logistics rules in Aviation

  • Must have excellent communication skills on different levels, a structured way of working and the ability to deal with a volume of complex information. Must have significant work experience in project management and international Team Management.

Physical Requirements:

Vision: adequate to read material on computer screens, and aircraft gauges. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions

Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on fuselage jigs at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands (for ex. Lifting, working in heights): capable to support 2 shift system and occasional weekends, based on business needs.

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 55lbs/25kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues, or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 55lbs/25kg.

Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer, in meetings, or on aircraft.

Squatting/Kneeling: able to work on in the wing or center box in a confined space. Entrance into the wing by a 9.8 inch x 17.7 inch oval opening. Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
