FAME - Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education is a work/learn program that Major Tool is a sponsoring employer to support the talent pipeline for Industrial Maintenance Technicians.

For the 2025 Fall Program entry, current Major Tool employees interested in pursuing Industrial Maintenance as their career are invited to apply and learn more about this opportunity. A maximum of two candidates will be selected for entry for fall entry.

Earn 61 credit hours from Vincennes University, attending classes at the Aviation Technology Center near the Indianapolis airport and complete approximately 1800 hours of on-the-job training while going to school. The program focuses on the development of soft skills and professional behaviors, which compliment the core technical curriculum.

Applicants must be able to meet the admission requirements for Vincennes by having a high school diploma or GED with transcript documentation and pass Accuplacer testing. Classes in the program include:

  • MATT 107 Technical Math 3 credit hours
  • CHEM 107 World of Chemistry 4 credit hours
  • ENGL 101 English Composition 3 credit hours
  • PFWL Personal Fitness & Wellness 2 credit hours
  • CIMT 100 Electronics for Automation 6 credit hours
  • CIMT 140 Mechanical Drives 3 credit hours
  • CIMT 160 Fluid Power 2 credit hours
  • COMM 143 Speech 3 credit hours
  • PMTD 110 Manufacturing Processes 3 credit hours
  • CIMT 125 Introduction to Robotics 3 credit hours
  • CIMT 175 Mechatronics 3 credit hours
  • CIMT 204 Troubleshooting Automated Systems 2 credit hours
  • CIMT 200 PLC 6 credit hours
  • CIMT 206 Motors and Motor Control 2 credit hours
  • ENGL 108 Technical Writing 3 credit hours
  • CIMT 250 Robotic Applications & Servicing 3 credit hours
  • CIMT 265 Industrial Networking 2 credit hours

This is a part time position with work hours scheduled each semester based on school schedule. 30 hours on average can be maintained for full benefit eligibility.
