Cost Accountant


Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities


  • Assure all Cost accounting transactions are accurately processed in accordance with GAAP and FAR on a timely basis


  • Generate the weekly / monthly labor and cost rollups and ensure all direct time charged is accurately posted to programs and work orders.
  • Review the weekly sales (SOHCOS) analysis to ensure invoices are coded correctly
  • Act as the primary point of contact for ERP system operation issues, facilitating communication and resolution with system consultants
  • Review and resolve incorrect inventory transactions, invoice records, aging work orders and program costing discrepancies.
  • Report inventory balances for the bank borrowing base calculation
  • Review the monthly sales analysis (pre-and-post-close), inventory and purchasing activity to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform account reconciliations at the frequency assigned by Controller - i.e., monthly, quarterly, annually
  • Collaborate with Finance staff, and cross-functional process owners to ensure Purchase Orders, Labor Reporting, Work Orders, Inventory records, Sales Orders, Invoices, and other ERP systems accurately transact, record and report, costs, and revenue recognition.
  • Review WIP ageing reports and ensure only current works orders are active in the system
  • Provide labor utilization, material receipts, scrap analysis by BU and total Company
  • Prepare inventory and work in process reports used for CCAS preparation
  • Prepare late arriving analysis used for update of revenue and cost by BU
  • Report and update warranty accrual calculations
  • Contribute to the teams by supporting and executing projects or ad-hoc reports as needed
  • Collaborate with the external audit review as it pertains to physical inventory counts and price testing of inventory costs
  • Ensure all system codes for tracking costs and OH are set up accurately in the system (resource codes, inventory, OH rates etc.)
  • Monitor no spend is added to closed programs, coordinate and resolved with PMs when it happens
  • Perform and run all the processes, reports and communications required to close projects in the system
  • Develop and train proper backups to ensure coverage during planned and unplanned absences
  • Stay informed about best practices in manufacturing accounting



Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Accounting Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in manufacturing environment required
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Attention to details a must
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently on assigned projects without the need for close supervision.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen



This position is at our Parsippany, NJ corporate offices location.

Pay Range : $82,000 - $95,000
