Your Opportunity

The Weighmaster weighs all animals entering facility, performs data entry, generate reports to record and report selling information.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assists as needed with the receiving, grading & shipping of animals.

  • Maintains inventory of animals by animal movements, keeping farms separate.

  • Print receipts - then sends to receiving.

  • Performs necessary data entry into a computer, while maintaining data accuracy.

  • Weighs all animals, comparing data entered with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format on the screen to detect errors (Nuvision System.)

  • Compiles, sorts, and verifies accuracy of data to be entered.

  • Keeps record of work completed.

  • Reads and routes incoming mail.

  • Answers telephone and gives information to callers and places outgoing calls.

  • Prepares outgoing mail.

  • Operates office equipment such as a computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

  • Generates computerized reports using standard reporting formats.

  • Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield subscribes.

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with company EMS policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.

  • Reports all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.

  • Reads and understands the company's emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.

  • Performs other duties as defined by managers.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • State licensed through USDA.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and Excel.

  • Must have good communication skills (oral and written.)

  • Must be able to work an average 48-50 hour week, which can vary frequently.

  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
