BIOVIA is looking for a motivated Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our R&D Quality Engineering team in San Diego, CA - in an onsite hybrid role. This role will be focused on working with BIOVIA Laboratory software, developing and implementing the test strategy, test plan, and authoring and executing test cases for our on-premise and cloud software delivery. This key individual's expertise and software quality focus will help ensure BIOVIA solutions meet the needs of life and material science customers.

  • Promote an automation first approach to software quality, contributing to test automation frameworks that improve the efficiency, scalability and maintainability of automated testing
  • Interact with product management, project management and development teams to develop a string understanding of the project and testing objectives
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain end-to-end workflow tests including functional, integration, and regression test suites based on business requirements
  • Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues to drive towards root cause identification and resolution
  • Ensure requirements traceability, test coverage, and exit criteria are satisfied before closing testing related tasks
  • Participate in Go/No Go decisions; providing information on open test areas, known issues, and other release risks

* Stay at the state of the art on software testing practices with a focus on AI/ML/LLM evaluation

* Anticipate AI specific risks and derive relevant AI use cases and test scenarios

Qualifications:

* B.S., M.S., or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, or related fields required

* Skilled in scripting / programming with Java, JavaScript, or Python

* Hands on exposure to ML/LLM systems as user and tester

* Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies

* 1-3 years of experience as a software developer or QA engineer

Preferred Skills:

* Conversant in software development and testing methodologies including Scaled Agile

* Technical knowledge and experience implementing continuous test solutions using open source tools such as JMeter, RestAssured, Selenium, and orchestration/CI tools like Jenkins and GitLab

* Prior experience in enterprise software, cloud testing, and scientific software

* Experience with testing Cloud based products and implementing automated QA testing processes under a DevOps model

* Working knowledge of database interfaces and SQL; experience with scripting or programming in addition to Linux usage and navigation

* Understanding of FDA, GxP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements

Salary Pay Transparency

Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $85500 and $103500, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
