About the PositionWe seek applicants with a proven record of experience, expertise, and capabilities to help communities across the state and region understand and use resilience frameworks and approaches to plan and implement strategies to manage climate change challenges like increased flood risks, extreme heat, and poor air quality. This will include serving as a trusted expert and educator capable of collaborating closely with a transdisciplinary Climate Extension team to develop and deliver educational training and resources. You will provide hands-on education and technical support to assist communities across Minnesota in understanding climate risks and comparing, selecting, and implementing different resilience strategies. Individuals will work with a diverse set of partners and communities, such as:

Primary office location at one of 15 Extension Regional office locations (Cloquet is not available). A list of Extension Regional Office is available here; Location to be determined at hire. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered for this position. TravelThis person will travel overnight to locations across Minnesota approximately 1-3 nights per month and day trips approximately 1-3 times per month. Qualifications

About the Climate Adaption PartnershipThis position will be a significant contributor to the Extension and research activities of the University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP), a joint program of University of Minnesota Extension and the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS). MCAP works to develop critical climate science knowledge, champion climate adaptation leadership and support climate resilience actions and collaborations across communities, sectors, and levels of government to ensure Minnesota is making needed progress to prepare for our changing climate. MCAP is a leading multi-sector group and partners directly with state, federal and local governments, the private sector, non-profits, Tribes, community organizations, and individuals. Pay Range: The estimated starting salary for this position is $70,000-$78,000 annually for the Assistant Extension Professor (9623) or $80,000-$88,000 for the Associate Extension Professor (9622) position. The salary and determination of whether an individual is considered for the Assistant Extension Professor or Associate Extension Professor will be made at the time of offer and will be based on qualifications and experience and requires unit approval. The Assistant Extension Professor classification is generally early to mid-career and is where almost all of our Extension Educators are hired. Individuals with numerous years of directly related post-graduate degree experience may be considered for the Associate Extension Professor classification and would be expected to come in as an established leader and subject matter expert in this field.
