Operations Support Specialist - Panama City, FL

$21.00 - $27.00 per hour

The Operations Support Specialist is a part of the operations team and is responsible for assisting the Superintendent as directed during the operations of discharge, load, and departure of assigned transportation guaranteeing quality, security, safety and efficiency in accordance with relevant operational and technical parameters. In addition, the Operations Support Specialist is responsible to assist the Shop Foreman and Mechanics in his duties as determined by the Operations Manager.

• Work closely with operations staff while handling cargo as directed safely and in a manner to complete tasks according to plans.
• Ensure that all required personnel are wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as safety vest, safety toe boots, safety glasses and protective hard hat, when applicable and reports any violations to the Superintendent.
• May be required to assists in the investigation and reporting damages and liabilities to the appropriate management and authorities.
• Supports, monitors and trouble shoots, when necessary, ensuring data is accurate and informs terminal staff of any discrepancies.
• Reports problems and issues to appropriate Manager to the operation.
• Must understand and adhere to safety procedures while implementing plans to address safety hazards.
• Assists Superintendent and Shop Foreman to assure proper communication between all parties, and labor, as directed.
• Reports any deviation from company policies and procedures to the appropriate manager.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Assist with maintenance on conveyors and rolling equipment.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Recommended minimum 2 years' experience operating powered industrial truck type equipment.
• Basic knowledge or principles of terminal operations.
• Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations.
• Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired.
• Requires problem solving skills to respond quickly and effectively to operational issues.
• Requires the ability to follow instructions in a fast paced environment and be available to work varied hours and days.
• Requires some mechanical capabilities and usage of hand and power tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Work environment:

• Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings and nights.
• Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise.
• The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment.
• The ability to drive 50%
• The ability to operate various types of equipment.
• No relocation offered.
