GENERAL FUNCTION: Manages and directs exempt and non-exempt employees primarily responsible for the various accounting related activity associated with the onboarding and ongoing servicing of commercial loans. The commercial portfolio consists of over 87,000 loans and lines of credit with over $96 billion in assets. Commercial loan products include business banking, middle market, large corporate, private banking, construction, real estate, participations and syndications, asset securitizations, SBA, and workout loans. The manager will collaborate with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Fulfillment Managers, Credit Managers, Finance Managers, and Accounting Managers to ensure the accounting and bookkeeping of the portfolios are reconciled timely and accurately within Bancorp standards. The manager will also provide leadership and guidance on accounting related projects and initiatives.

While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads and manages the commercial loan servicing staff responsible for supporting the financial activity related to payments, advances, adjustments, and accruals.

  • Ensure that all cash transactions are cleared through GL and wire accounts within established SLA's. Research and resolution escalation point for the reconciliations team.

  • Approve wire transactions and internal fund transfers via ACE within the guidelines of the Bancorp Authority Review System.

  • Maintain the necessary management reporting tools to accurately measure and report timeliness and quality of service levels, production, and error statistics.

  • Ensures all Department policies and procedures are developed, documented, and maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Supervises staff in the completion of month end-responsibilities including preparation and execution of monthly entries, variance analysis, reconciliation, and report preparation.

  • Responsible for the accounting and bookkeeping of Commercial Loan Operation's general accounting area: balancing, reconciliation, accruals, amortization, etc. in support of the various commercial LOBs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. MBA and/or other certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) are strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related industry or public accounting experience required. Banking operations or financial services operations related experience preferred.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Proficient in advanced spreadsheet applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.

  • Demonstrate ability to learn and understand Bancorp systems such as AFS, ACBS, ACE, RWI, Mobius, Frontier, Raft & TM1.

  • Strong understanding of debit and credit transaction flows throughout various systems.

  • Excellent communications, organization and follow up skills.

  • Excellent people/relationship building skills.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Capable of prioritizing, multi-tasking, and organizing work to meet deadlines.

  • Experience in independently organizing projects, defining processes, and creating procedures.
