How you'll make an impact:

The SiriusXM Connect division of SiriusXM builds and delivers software-based services on our connected car platform. The software we develop not only adds convenience to the daily life of our subscribers, but safety and security as well; when the worst happens, our software helps to save lives.

Working on our team will give you the opportunity to craft software in an agile, team-focused environment while learning and exercising a multitude of skills. We focus on keeping developers happy and productive; fostering a positive atmosphere to help you make the right decisions and to learn and grow both professionally and personally.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate software engineer to help us create, extend, and maintain the core of our connected car software platform as we expand past our current offerings in services related to safety, security and convenience to take our business to the next level.

What you'll do:

  • Configure and manage subscriptions, payment and billing for our customers.
  • Develop, define and maintain class-level specifications and software for cloud-based, microservice APIs.
  • Design, develop and refine interfaces between vehicle and mobile clients as well as our back-end service layer.
  • Design, develop and maintain Zuora (3rd party) workflows.
  • Write proof of concept application software.
  • Facilitate the troubleshooting of pre- and post-production software issues.
  • Analyze requirements and technical specifications.
  • Identify performance bottle necks and implement solutions.
  • Participate in an Agile development environment.
  • Mentor other team members, lead code reviews and manage pull requests.
  • Engage with members of other teams as well as third-party vendors to facility software integration and troubleshooting.

What you'll need:

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technically related field (Equivalent experience and/or degrees in other technical fields will be evaluated and considered).
  • 5+ years of experience in a development position.
  • Strong technical knowledge building mission critical/highly available service-oriented software.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development organization, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Commitment to internal and external clients and customer service principles.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects, including leading small groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to participate in team-level on-call rotation.
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding software security and observability.
  • Recent hands-on experience with development in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, RESTful API, Node.js, Microservices, JavaScript, SQL, Git, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based systems, AWS Cloud preferred.
  • Knowledge of modern software patterns and anti-patterns.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
