The Senior SQL Developer will play a key role in building and maintaining secure, high-performing database systems that support mission-critical government applications. Operating within a remote, clearance-sensitive environment, this individual will drive database modernization efforts-including cloud migration to AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL-while ensuring compliance with federal security and data governance standards.

Advanced SQL Development: Craft efficient and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views tailored to complex data processing needs.



  • System Integration: Work closely with application developers to embed database logic seamlessly into applications.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks across development, testing, and production stages.
  • Cloud Migration: Support and lead efforts in moving legacy systems to AWS cloud databases like RDS or Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure all development aligns with federal data governance, access control, and security standards.
  • Documentation: Create and update comprehensive documentation such as data dictionaries, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database developers and enforce best practices.


Required Qualifications



  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in SQL development with progressive responsibilities.
  • SQL Mastery: Deep expertise in complex SQL query design, optimization, and debugging.
  • Regulated Environment Background: Prior experience working in government or highly regulated sectors.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work alongside development, infrastructure, and security teams.
  • Security Focus: Strong knowledge of database security, access control models, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical Mindset: Capable of diagnosing and resolving issues quickly under pressure.
  • Clear Communication: Skilled in creating detailed documentation for auditing, training, and operational continuity.


Preferred / Bonus Skills



  • Cloud Database Expertise: Proven success in migrating systems to AWS RDS or Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Multi-RDBMS Proficiency: Familiarity with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar platforms.
  • DevOps Integration: Exposure to CI/CD practices and tools for managing database changes.
  • Ticketing & Reporting Tools: Experience with platforms like ServiceNow, and generating audit-ready documentation.
  • Agile Practices: Understanding and experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
