Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Unix Engineer (Network/Systems Administration, Sr. Associate). The Engineer is responsible for systems administration, configuration management, and engineering duties for Linux computer systems. Performs systems administration of Unix operating systems, environments, and applications. Manages cybersecurity configuration, vulnerability remediation, and technical problem resolution for Unix systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting computer configuration, cybersecurity compliance, and application management using scripting, Ansible, and other administrative tools.

  • Facilitating projects and initiatives supporting customer requirements and security mandates.

  • Creating and updating tickets/tasks in management tools (including Azure DevOps and ServiceNow), ensuring clear communication of status and reporting on tasking progress.

  • Performing testing and documenting results to ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Ensuring adherence to change management policies to support governance/approvals for systems administration.

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of relevant experience to include:

    • Engineering and administration of Linux / Unix systems

    • Security and Configurating Linux/Unix systems including experience with STIG implementation

    • Red Hat and Debian based systems

    • HW and Virtualization (VMWare and Cloud IaaS)

    • Experience with scripting, including using Ansible playbook scripts

  • Bachelor's degree (or the following may be substituted):

    • High School Diploma (or GED), coupled with an additional 6 years of relevant experience; or

    • Associate's degree, coupled with an additional 4 years of relevant experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience related to design, development, and integration of hardware and software to support Unix environments with virtualization, including RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and SPARC Solaris.

  • Ten (10) or more years hands on experience performing a variety of engineering and operational related assignments associated with Linux, to include mounting SAN/NAS connections, backup operations, and application / component updates.

  • Ten (10) or more years building Unix/Linux servers, ensuring security requirements are met, testing servers/systems/software/hardware, and integrating/installing them into the production environment.

  • Five (5) or more years' experience in AWS, Azure, and other cloud IaaS/PaaS environments.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to comfortably converse with customers on a regular basis to determine customer needs and ensure those needs are met.

  • Experience preparing all necessary documentation to operate and maintain managed equipment and/or software.

  • Prior experience with performance monitoring, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, documentation of issues/recommendations to optimize and maintain consistent service delivery.

  • Advanced certification related to one or more Unix flavor.

  • Strong skills in key operational areas, including strategic thinking, multi-tasking, time management, planning, and executing to a defined schedule.

    • Associate's degree, coupled with an additional 4 years of relevant experience

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $135,000 - 145,000 per year.
