The Colgate University Department of Athletics is currently accepting applications for a
part-time position working with Equipment Services.

Accountabilities
We are currently hiring for two Casual Wage Equipment Assistants in Athletics Equipment Services.

  • Both roles will support various Olympic sports and assist with day-to-day operations, logistics, and administrative tasks.
  • One of these roles will have a stronger focus on football operations, and preferred candidates will have experience working with collegiate football programs.
  • Candidates will be considered for both positions unless they indicate a specific interest.
  • Must be able to attend Colgate home athletic events as assigned.
  • Disperses daily practice laundry and equipment, assists with the repair and maintenance of all sport-related apparel, gear and equipment.
  • Performs a variety of duties related to an intercollegiate equipment room, including periodic equipment inventories, inventory control, receiving, checking and recording shortages in daily UPS, deliveries per protocol.
  • Prepare and issuance of competition uniforms, locker room set up of both home and visitors for events.
  • Operation of sanitation type machines for equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Equipment Services.
  • Responsible for day-to-day problem solving of athletic equipment.
  • Adheres to OSHA requirements and NCAA regulations to equipment safety.
  • Issues, collects and maintains computerized records of lockers and locks when appropriate.
  • Provides oversight and guidance of student workers when applicable.
  • Ability to work in weather elements as needed.


This is a ten-month, part time position that operates and oversees chemical usage and
machine program cycles of the commercial laundry facility, trouble shoots when
necessary, contacts B&G or vendor, if needed. This position reports to the Director of
Equipment Services.
Requirements


Professional Experience/ Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license in accordance with the university's MVR policy.
  • Ability to repair equipment and operate commercial laundry machinery.
  • Proficient in the safe and proper use of basic power tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with a diverse group of constituents on a daily basis.
  • Strong record of work performance and attendance.
  • Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Office.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as assigned.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a college equipment environment highly preferred.



Education
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
