Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is$79,000.00 to$131,600.00.

Individual base pay compensation will depend, in part, on factors such as geographic work location and relevant experience and skills.

Position Details:

We need engineers. Engineers who have a different mindset where you love to experiment and use your curiosity to exceed customer expectations. As an Engineer on the Core Engineering team you will collaborate with cross-functional product and platform engineering teams to help build better shared services and improved "paved roads" to streamline the application delivery process.

Specifically, you'll be focused on building products and solutions that help empower the acceleration of Grainger's modernization journey for our systems. Your tasks may include development on an internal developer portal, application templates, and supporting tools and pipelines.

You Will:

  • Collaborate with teams to optimize system designs and code to help drive developer efficiency across the ecosystem
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources to create actionable metrics dashboards
  • Build tooling to help enable self-service onboarding to internal engineering customers
  • Analyze trends in system usage to help plan for future product enhancements
  • Develop new application functionality based on delivery goals

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Familiarity with tools like Datadog, Splunk
  • Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Java, Javascript, Python or Go
  • Preference is JavaScript
  • Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
  • Ability to test and diagnose front end issues (typically React) and optimize them as needed.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Kubernetes, Helm, and Github Actions

Preferred:

  • Experience with CNCF technologies such as: Argo Rollouts and Buildpacks
  • Experience working on Internal Developer Portals
  • Familiarity with DevContainers
