Position Summary

The New York State LTAP Center - Cornell Local Roads Program (NYSLTAP-CLRP) is one of 58 local technical assistance program (LTAP) centers nationwide that provide transportation training and technical assistance to local highway agencies. Function as a team member in the NYS LTAP Center - Cornell Local Roads Program in the Biological & Environmental Engineering Department.

This position will provide office and communication support for full time staff. Primary duties will be assisting with office administrative duties; assist with communication activities of NYSLTAP-CLRP including on-site work at the 2025 Highway School; and editing, organizing, and reviewing online and physical publication library.

This position is a temporary appointment with a term ending September 30, 2025. Currently expect 20-30 hours per week, but there may be weeks with a full-time commitment such as the Highway School.

Office Administrative Duties (50%)

  • Road Master - Scan in & double check information on server and in the Database. Upload RM from file drawer to the box or server
  • Program Library - Review program publication and video inventory and assist with reorganization. Update program database and provide recommendations for additional updates.
  • Workshop preparation and administration - Assist with preparation of extension workshop materials. Review current workshop notes and rewrite their content. Process workshop evaluations and quizzes (from existing key) and record data as needed. Enter workshop data into program database.
  • Program Mailing - Assist with mailing of materials as part of grants or as per technical assistance requests
  • Assist with review of program records (physical and computer) including old records, pictures and videos

Communications Assistant (30%)

  • Social Media - Assist with social media posting for NYSLTAP-CLRP activities
  • Editing NYSLTAP-CLRP publications
  • Review online materials and prepare edits for review by staff engineers
  • Assist with 2025 Highway School by taking videos & pictures

Technical Assistance/Clearinghouse (15%)

  • Review and assist with management of the NYS LTAP Center - Cornell Local Roads Program DVD lending library.
  • Take requests for and mail training DVDs to highway officials.
  • Research up-to-date training resources and recommend new materials to update library.
  • Review and update library database.
  • Maintain program activity data and create reports for local, federal and state highway officials.

Personal and Professional Development (5%):

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Formal training beyond a HS diploma of 6 months to 1 year, more than 2 years and less than 4 years' experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, effective problem solving and strong organizational skills, excellent customer service focus and the ability to work well with others is required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver's license; and will be required to have a driver's background check processed.
  • Must be able to work independently while supporting the endeavors of an overall team effort.
  • Ability to maintain professional atmosphere in busy office setting.
  • Must be able to work well with a variety of diverse people, including but not limited to faculty, staff, elected officials and conference/workshop participants.
  • Must exercise sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the University.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities, situations and demands.
  • Must be flexible and receptive to new ideas and approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of business or technical programs (Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, etc.) to complete information management or production tasks.
  • Strong writing skills

Hiring range for this position: $23.40 - $23.69
