Overview

THE OPPORTUNITY

The National College of Education (NCE) at National Louis University (NLU) seeks a dynamic educator with demonstrated expertise in educational leadership to join its Educational Leadership faculty. This is a full-time (10-month) Professional Practice appointment at the Assistant Professor rank (or rank commensurate with qualifications and experience).

NLU's recently updated graduate program offers the Florida Principal Preparation (M.Ed./Ed.S.) and Superintendent Preparation (Ed.S./Ed.D.) in a weekend blended model. We are currently seeking a colleague with extensive leadership experience at the school and/or district level. This position includes teaching prospective principals and superintendents, preparing candidates to develop a strong foundation in classroom assessment and evidence-based decision-making, research project design and using data analysis for PK-16 improvement. Experience in program evaluation and policy advocacy at the P-12 or higher education levels would be welcomed.

Essential Responsibilities

    Teach/coordinate educational leadership courses related to PreK-16 teaching and learning
  • Apply learning technologies such as Desire2Learn and LiveText
  • Support educational leadership research by program candidates at the masters and doctoral levels
  • Qualify for educational leadership internship supervision by state standards.
  • Support principal and superintendent endorsement internships
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program improvement by collaborating with faculty in program and unit level evaluation, to develop program reports, assessment protocols, and cross
    disciplinary curriculum work
  • Advise Educational Leadership graduate students, including service on dissertation committees
  • Engage in an active program of scholarship related to these areas of expertise
  • Contribute to the Educational Leadership program development, management and partnership
    coordination
  • Engage in the learning-community life of National Louis University through engagement in
    meetings, committees, professional development, and collaborative projects with faculty and staff
  • Fulfill other faculty duties in Research & Scholarship, Service, Professional Development &
    Engagement domains
  • Ensure Adjunct Faculty development within the program and preserve the growth of the Ed
    Leadership Program


Qualifications

A successful candidate will:

  • Possess an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, or a closely related field, with experience in conducting applied research in classrooms/school/district settings, and higher education teaching experience commensurate with rank
  • Possess at least three-five years of educational leadership experience. Preference is extended for
    possession of a principal and/or superintendent's endorsement
  • Demonstrate experience and skill in both face-to-face and online teaching with adult learners.
    Classes typically meet once a month on a Friday night and Saturday with online work, through the
    university's learning management system, D2L, in between class meetings
  • Model excellence in teaching with a strong foundation in improving the climate of the school;
    analyzing complex social, economic, political, and other factors in contemporary problems facing
    schools; selecting, implementing, and evaluating initiatives

Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, current/previous faculty rank, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
