Dental Clinic Assistant

Hourly Rate: $15.75

This position is an on-campus, part-time, up-to 19-hour appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

The
Dental Clinic Assistant is responsible for facilitating the operational flow of
the dental clinic, checking in and checking out patients, reviewing medical
history guidelines for patient treatment and maintaining accurate records.
The
Dental Clinic Assistant is a part-time, non-union, 19-hour or less appointment.
Operating hours of the dental clinic often necessitate an altered work
schedule, which may occur on short notice. The position involves frequent
handling of confidential information and medical records.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist patients with check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Schedule the appropriate patient to meet patient needs and student requirements.
  • Provide information about clinic operations and fees.
  • Schedule and manage the electronic health record.
  • Communicate with dental offices and healthcare providers.
  • Transmit radiographs and patient records to healthcare providers.
  • Prepare deposits for the Parkland business office.
  • Organize and maintain accurate patient, student, and clinic records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Verbal and mathematical abilities sufficient to organize the efficient use of the equipment and operation of computers and software, and effective communication.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
  • Familiar with Word, Excel and Microsoft software
  • Works well while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with a team and also individually.
  • Goal oriented and motivated as a self-starter.
  • Enjoys working in a student and patient-centered environment.
  • In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
