The incumbent must be knowledgeable of the uses of equipment specific to the area of employment. This position is responsible to annually demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, BLS, and hazardous materials. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the incumbent collects data relative to the health status of a patient, and provides basic information to the licensed nurse to develop a problem list and revise information on the plan of care. This position provides physical care, comfort measures, and emotional support to the adult and geriatric patient population as directed by a professional registered nurse. The incumbent may assist with basic restorative care. This position also provides a safe and healthy patient care environment and completes basic duties as assigned by a licensed nurse. The Certified Nursing Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards. This position does provide patient care.
