Your Job

INVISTA has an immediate need for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team at our propylene site in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, ensure compliance with process safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and implement safety programs to maintain a safe work environment. This role involves monitoring plant operations, identifying potential hazards, developing safety training programs, and collaborating with management to promote a culture of safety.

This role is located on-site within the EH&S team and has a 9/80 work schedule.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures (Safe Work Practices)
  • Own and drive practices of Process Safety Management elements
  • Align with INVISTA Performance Standards (PSM, SWP)
  • Contribute to the site by increasing knowledge in all areas of safety and providing base support to field employees in those areas (SWP, PSM, etc.)
  • Apply electronic permitting knowledge of site process and defining requirements
  • Improve site performance through learning and apply innovative approaches to create a more competitive organization, apply principal entrepreneurship to daily responsibilities
  • Seek knowledge and engage in discussion regarding site policies, procedures, applicable regulations & performance standards
  • Support the front-line during tasks, projects, and outages

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Five (5) or more years' health & safety experience within a PSM covered manufacturing environment
  • Experience in training or developing others in a PSM facility
  • Experience applying safe work practices, training, and contractor safety
  • Experience applying safety responsibilities (i.e. commissioning, preparing, and executing plant expansion and/or turnaround projects)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with on-line training systems and/or technologies geared toward innovating the role of safety practices and programs
  • Experience with electronic permitting and ownership of site Safe Work Practices
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health & Safety or Process Safety
  • Able to take and pass a physical assessment test to voluntarily participate as a member of the plant ERT team
