Job Description
Primary Purpose Supports Legal Compliance with implementation of the Compliance Program, including policy administration, compliance training, KYC due diligence, employee disclosures such as conflicts of interest, affiliate compliance, trade compliance, internal investigations and other general compliance duties relevant to the Code of Business Conduct.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with implementation of the Compliance Program. Tracks and reports on key risk indicators and key performance indicators. Drafts presentations and reports regarding progress on team goals and initiatives. Implements and administrates systems supporting the program and monitors the compliance email. Works cross-functionally with other business teams, such as Legal, Risk, Finance, Safety, IT, HR and Operations.
- Implements the Compliance Communications and Training Program. Develops training content and arranges for translations. Administers, tracks and reports training completions. Coordinates with instructors and the business to arrange training events. Coordinates with HR and Communications teams to ensure plan aligns with corporate training and calendar.
- Collaborates and support with implementation of the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Compliance Program. Conducts AML/KYC due diligence on high-risk transactions and third parties.
- Administers and reports on the lifecycle of policies and procedures. Ensures company policies align with corporate policies and are designed with high-quality standards. Supports policy owners with timely and quality policy reviews.
- Assists with trade compliance regulatory monitoring, including import/export and economic sanctions. Tracks anti-boycott reporting.
- Administers the political law reporting and review process.
- Manages, tracks and resolves conflicts of interest disclosures and gifts and entertainment approval requests.
- Manages affiliate compliance tracking and resolution.
- Assists with internal investigations.
- Adheres to Sempra Code of Business Conduct and all company policies and procedures. Completes all required training, disclosures and other company requirements for employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree required - Business Administration or Accounting; Human Resources Management preferred; other majors considered.
Experience
- 3 years of experience in a compliance or assurance role within a large company or other professional services organization required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expertise using technologies for document management, matter management, electronic billing, electronic signature, MS-Office, SharePoint, Power Platform, etc.
- Ability to adapt to change and work to integrate processes and continuously improve the way the Compliance and Risk department works and uses technology.
- Communication skills including written and verbal, including remote meetings via Teams.
- Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Business Suite.
- Knowledge of elements of effective corporate compliance programs.
- Event planning and administration skills.
- Initiative, influence without authority and relationship building.
- Knowledge of international trade compliance (import/export/economic sanctions).
- Knowledge of AML/KYC due diligence processes.
- Knowledge of business processes and industry norms.
- Problem-solver with demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions between all levels and must be comfortable working with entry level staff to senior executives.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) preferred.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to occasionally travel in the U.S. and Mexico.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Work Schedule
HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week onsite.

$69,700.00 - $104,600.00 / year
