Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

To be considered, an applicant will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or other related field with finance or business emphasis and five (5) years of fiscal management experience that includes general ledger account analysis in a fund accounting environment, preferably in a post-secondary educational setting utilizing Banner software; Experience writing database queries and reports and two (2) years supervisory experience required. Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field preferred.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF DUTIES:

The Associate Comptroller reports to the Comptroller and/or their designee and performs the following duties:

* In the absence of the Comptroller, assume supervisory responsibilities for departments.
* Provide back-up support for the Comptroller in cash management and investments.
* Analyzes and interprets accounts, oversees completion of the State's annual operating report.
* Direct support staff in the financial reporting functions of an educational institution, consistent with the accepted principles of college accounting as they relate to bookkeeping transactions.
* Responsible for the development of systems to improve generation of financial information and office procedures.
* Prepares, reviews and analyzes statistical and financial reports for internal (College) or external (Federal, State, etc.) distribution/submission.
* Completes an analysis of accounts within the General Ledger in accordance with documented procedures and schedules.
* Prepares lease schedule and assist with plant fund accounting.
* Completes annual calculations for auditors to include vacation accrual and termination benefits.
* Prepares documents and works directly the college's actuary.
* Responsible for working with the College's independent auditors to reconcile the annual financial statements to the College's financial reports.
* Write queries to extract information for review and/or reporting.
* Work with ITS Staff and third parties to comply with all payroll related reporting requirements.
* Responsible for training the Assistant Comptroller
* As Assistant Treasurer (upon approval by BOT on annual basis) assumes responsibility for the authorization of college-wide disbursements, wire-transfers, etc.
* Performs other duties assigned.

This is a full-time 12-month, Management Confidential position with a salary range of $65,000.00 to $75,000.00.
