Description

Arora Engineers, Inc. is lookingfor a Special Systems Practice Lead to join our team and provide design expertise, team oversight, leadership and mentorship for special systems engineers, designers, and projects. The Special Systems Practice Lead also supports the operations manager(s) and marketing team to identify new pursuits, teaming partners and opportunities for new work. The Practice Lead must have the ability to respond to technical RFP's, develop fee proposals and provide technical writing. This is an opportunity to work with a team of professionals who takes pride in delivering efficient and innovative solutions to our growing number of clients across North America and around the world. The Practice Lead must have demonstrated technical strengths in a variety of knowledge areas including the design and implementation of security systems, structured cabling systems, audio visual systems, customer processing systems and radio-based communications systems. The practice lead must have a strong understanding of the physical and functional requirements gathering from clients for these types of systems, such that direction can be given to design teams. Additional contributions include effective coordination with project stakeholders, teaming partners, scheduling, construction administration and construction management. Responsibilities include the design oversight and ethical quality control of various projects, project management, ensuring deadlines/budgets with regards to assigned projects are met in a timely manner, and the quality of work produced maintains a high level of standard; including, but not limited to:




  • Ensuring coordinated design between multi-discipline projects.
  • Technical design development.
  • Reviewing drawings and technical specifications.
  • Contributing to the estimation of projects, planning and construction feasibility.
  • Developing design drawings.
  • Providing advisory information during the construction phase.
  • Performing site surveys and contributing to engineering studies.
  • Attending and contributing to client and departmental meetings.
  • Ensuring assigned projects are completed within budget and on time.



Essential Functions:



  • Is the Special Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert.
  • Manages the technical design process for all special systems projects.
  • Continuously updates and adds departmental delivery standards in coordination with regional technical leads.
  • Ensures technical accuracy for projects along with the regional discipline leads.
  • Develops and maintains department design standards.
  • Is active in marketing the service and responding to marketing requests.
  • Functions as Project Representative on assignments with electrical scope and other disciplines and ensures cross coordinated design on projects.
  • Lead design development of special systems work, create and review drawings and technical specifications.
  • Provides advisory information during the construction phase, performs site surveys, and contributes to engineering studies.
  • Monitors project production and schedules to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Performs QA/QC Functions as necessary
  • Follows up on issues with design and production staff to resolve problems and concerns.
  • Assists Operations Manager in developing fee/scope proposals and presentation for future projects as well as performs this task independently.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Minimum:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, P.E. preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in a technical capacity reflecting increasing responsibility.


Needed Skills:



  • Proficient in project management concepts and with software: Excel, Bluebeam, Newforma, MS Office Suite.
  • Advanced knowledge of BICSI, NEC, NFPA, and IBC code regulations.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while being detailed and safety oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to travel to project sites for design and coordination meetings.
