The Biostatistics Center is seeking a Lead Research Scientist to serve as the Operations Lead of a team (research staff as well as programmers) serving as the Coordinating Center for a multi-center
NIH-funded study, "DISCOVERY of Risk Factors for Type 2 Diabetes in Youth". This position assumes major responsibilities for planning, conducting and supervising research at a level functioning similar to that of a Principal Investigator. Using broad familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures, this role uses quantitative and qualitative methods to collect, analyze and report data activities. This role relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and performs a variety of tasks to carry out research. This position leads and directs the work of others. Duties most typically performed by this position include utilizing their relevant professional experience and judgment to the duties below.
This position oversees the following activities:
-The planning and documentation of Study meetings; plans and manages Steering Committee meetings (including agenda, logistics, minutes, and implementation support).
-The posting and organization of content of Study websites, which provide access to documents and information required by investigators, network staff, medical monitors, and the general public.
-The implementation and documentation of quality assurance activities related to these functions.
-The generation of Study meeting minutes and the management of action items, as well as the maintenance of an electronic archive of network meetings and minutes.
-The planning and management of the education and training of study staff, including the training of clinical site staff and data audit visits of clinical centers.
-Evaluates and determines optimal information management, intra-staff communication, and tracking of essential information and complex report generation. Travel to meetings off site. Minimum of 2 trips per year.
-Maintains intermittent communication with The Biostatistics Center Systems Support staff and Administrative staff relating to systems and administrative details.
-Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Master's degree plus 10 years of experience or a PhD plus 7 years of experience in a related discipline. Experience must include supervising the activities of a research or studies group or unit and for planning, conducting and reporting major research investigations or studies. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. |
