Summary: Gain experience working in a clinical environment full-time, while completing your Medical Assistant education! The Medical Assistant in Training position is responsible for performing medical support duties while completing their Medical Assistant (MA) program with an external school of choice. South Lake Pediatrics has a generous tuition reimbursement program to support the MA program, with a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the program. Duties performed in clinic are directed by the site supervisor and clinician and concurrent with South Lake Pediatrics' policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform patient care duties including preparing patients for examination and treatment, taking patient histories and vital signs, performing lab duties, assisting physicians with procedures, etc.
- Performs administrative duties such as preparing and maintaining supplies, equipment, and exam and treatment rooms, maintaining patient EMR, completing appropriate documentation, scheduling tests and treatments, etc.
- Assists physicians and performs direct patient care as instructed by the physician.
- May observe all patient injections but are not allowed to administer any injections of medications or immunizations.
- Maintains appropriate communication and good interpersonal skills with supervisors, staff in all departments, and patients to ensure collaboration, efficiency, and high-quality patient care.
- Demonstrates support to coworkers by offering help, when able.
- Attends required meetings, participates in committees, and assists with projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently enrolled in Medical Assistant program with identified graduation date.
- 2 to 5 years of customer service experience required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Work Schedule
Daily 8 hour shifts, flexibility to cover evening shifts (Mon-Thur) until 6:30pm as needed, and Saturday morning rotation approx. every 4-6 weeks.
