The Director of Nursing plays a pivotal leadership role in promoting a culture of excellence in nursing care and service delivery at our Long Term Care facility. With a strong commitment to patient- and family-centered care, this role is responsible for the overall administration, direction, coordination, and evaluation of the nursing services. The Director ensures that care is delivered in a manner that honors the uniqueness of every resident and is aligned with their physical, emotional, psychological, and social needs, as well as their cultural values and preferences.

Job Description

The Director of Nursing plays a pivotal leadership role in promoting a culture of excellence in nursing care and service delivery at our Long Term Care facility. With a strong commitment to patient- and family-centered care, this role is responsible for the overall administration, direction, coordination, and evaluation of the nursing services. The Director ensures that care is delivered in a manner that honors the uniqueness of every resident and is aligned with their physical, emotional, psychological, and social needs, as well as their cultural values and preferences.

The Director of Nursing leads, supports, and empowers a diverse team of nursing professionals and auxiliary staff to consistently deliver high-quality, compassionate, and compliant care to a wide range of patients-from adolescents to the frail elderly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct all nursing service activities to ensure the highest standards of care for residents.

  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in partnership with patients and their designated care partners.

  • Evaluate and improve nursing care practices to ensure optimal quality and efficient utilization of resources.

  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and facility policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Provide leadership and professional development to nursing staff through structured in-service education and training.

  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that prioritizes the dignity, rights, and well-being of all residents.

  • Participate in strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with other members of the leadership team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college, or university.

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State Board of Nursing.

  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time or equivalent clinical nursing experience.

  • At least 2 years of nursing supervision experience in a Long Term Care setting.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

  • Certification in Gerontological Nursing or Nursing Administration.

  • Experience in leading clinical teams through regulatory surveys and audits.
