Social Worker - LISW/LPCC

Scope of Position
Survivorship care provides a broad range of multidisciplinary supportive services for oncology patients and their caregivers. The program focuses on the vast and persistent impact of the diagnosis of cancer on the adult survivor. This includes the potential impact on health, physical and mental status, health behaviors, professional and personal identity, sexuality, and financial standing.
This position is responsible for providing direct psychosocial care in the multimodality survivorship, geriatric, adolescent and young adult and screening clinics at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. This individual will work with a team to develop, plan, implement and evaluate these services. Additional responsibilities include the provision of support groups for survivors and/or bereavement support groups. This individual may work with community and other healthcare professionals in the promotion of services offered by survivorship and the screening clinics. The department operates Monday-Friday, typically during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m; however, evening and weekend hours are required as needed for programming. The department?s offices are located at 4019 West Dublin-Granville Road

Position Summary
The primary focus of the position is to provide counseling and resource management assistance for patients and families in their survivorship. These efforts may include support groups, for survivors and bereavement groups for families of James patients who have died. This individual will also assist with educational classes, workshops, prevention programs and special survivorship initiatives, etc. The individual will analyze trends in psychosocial support, review literature and evidence-based resources, benchmark with other cancer institutions and integrate recommendations from national sources (e.g., Institute of Medicine, Office of Cancer Survivorship, American Cancer Society) in the planning and implementation of programs and services. The individual will be available to provide back up for existing group facilitators.

Minimum Education Required
Master's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications
Masters of Social Work from an accredited Graduate School of Social Work; State of Ohio licensure (LSW or LISW). Knowledge of university/hospital policies and procedures preferred; previous experience in oncology and a managed health care environment desired; Group facilitation skills required. Knowledge of resource management and ability to provide on-going case management. Interest in research and program evaluation required. Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills required. Ability to work evening and weekends as needed for groups and flexible clinic schedules. Technical competencies with MS Windows software and general computer skills.
