Job Overview

The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for effectively maintaining the credentialing and privileging process to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements, accreditation standards, Medical Staff Bylaws, and applicable policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

The following will be maintained in compliance with the Children's Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, applicable policies and procedures and delegated credentialing contracts, as well as Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), or other federal and state regulatory/accreditation body regulations.

1.Oversees all aspects of the initial and reappointment credentialing/privileging application process for all Medical and Allied Health staff for hospital privileges and/or payer enrollment.
2.Primary source verification of credentials for all providers.
3.Audits expirables to ensure providers are maintaining active licensure, registrations and certifications.
4.Reviews provider applications for accuracy and completeness.
5.Provides timely and accurate processing of initial and reappointment applications for providers with an expectation that no initial application process takes longer than 180 days and no reappointment application process takes longer than 120 days.
6.For hospital privileging purposes, analyzes initial and reappointment privilege requests to ensure providers qualify for the privileges they are applying for.
7.Communicates directly with departments, internal and external office/administrative staff, providers, department chairs and division in chiefs regarding concerns or missing items from applications.
8.Demonstrates professionalism in all communications with providers, departments, office/administrative staff, Department Chairs and Section-in-chiefs.
9.Works directly with the Medical Staff Office Database Administrator to ensure the software is functioning appropriately and reporting is accurate.
10.Ensures privacy of confidential provider information.
11.Processes Focused Professional Practice Evaluations and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations when applicable.
12.Meeting management including: Preparation of agendas, collection of materials and meeting minutes.

Supervision Received: Under close supervision, the employee receives training to develop skills and abilities in a specific line of work or general occupational area. Work product is subject to close, continuous inspection.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $48,487.24 to $72,730.86
Hourly Salary Range: $23.31 to $34.97
