Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillan, is seeking a Publicity Manager/Sr. Publicity Manager to join our team and specialize in high priority health/wellness, cookbook, lifestyle, and expert-driven nonfiction titles. This includes executing all aspects of a publicity campaign, including national and regional media booking, producing events and book tours, and overseeing author travel arrangements. Additionally, the role will involve representing the publicity department at key acquisition meetings for health, cookbook, lifestyle, and expert-driven nonfiction titles.

What you'll do:



  • Executing targeted, creative, and effective publicity campaigns for Flatiron's lead health/wellness, cookbook, lifestyle, and expert-driven nonfiction titles
  • Booking national and regional media, including broadcast, podcasts, print, and digital
  • Planning and executing author events and book tours, including event production logistics and overseeing travel arrangements
  • Working closely with editorial and marketing team members to craft effective publishing strategies for health, cookbook, and lifestyle nonfiction titles
  • Representing the publicity department during the editorial acquisition process for health/wellness, cookbook, and lifestyle titles, including reading and providing publicity notes on proposals and presenting at acquisition meetings with prospective authors and agents


Ideal Experience:



  • 5+ experience in publicity
  • Strong knowledge of national and regional media in the health/wellness, lifestyle, cookbook, and expert-driven nonfiction space (broadcast, print, and digital, including podcasts)
  • Strong knowledge of the publishing market and landscape for health, cookbook, and lifestyle publications
  • Established relationships with key media bookers in the health, cookbook, and lifestyle space (broadcast, print, and digital, including podcasts)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to escort and travel domestically with authors by car, train, and plane when needed
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
  • Familiarity with Muckrack, NetGalley, and Edelweiss


This role will have an annual salary of $70 - $80K (Mgr, Publicity) / $80-$90K (Sr Mgr, Publicity).
