At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

What You'll Do:

The Facility IT & MEP Systems Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting and maintaining facility IT systems and infrastructure across the organization's nationwide facilities but with a focus on the Headquarters location. This position is responsible for servicing building technology systems, assisting in construction projects, and ensuring the seamless operation of IT, electrical, and mechanical systems. The role involves both remote support and on-site commissioning of systems at new and existing locations.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports the design, planning, and integration of facility IT and MEP systems in new and existing facilities.

  • Assists in infrastructure planning, including network cabling, AV, lighting controls, and security systems.

  • Works alongside contractors and vendors during construction projects to ensure facility IT and building systems are properly implemented.

  • Performs troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on facility IT systems, including low-voltage, HVAC controls, and electrical systems.

  • Conducts site visits to remote job sites to assist with commissioning and verification of systems.

  • Reviews and interprets construction drawings and technical documents, providing input on facility IT and systems.

  • Utilizes software tools such as Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, MS Office, Visio, Lucidchart, and Smartsheet to track projects and create documentation.

  • Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to support infrastructure upgrades and expansions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities You'll Need to be Successful:

  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, low-voltage, AV, lighting controls, data cabling, and commercial construction.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical schematics.

  • Hands-on experience with facility IT network infrastructure, building automation systems, and MEP coordination.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to various WGU facilities across the U.S.

  • Strong attention to detail and organization in complex environments.

  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and conduct in office and field environments.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, electrical, facility IT, or building systems.

Experience in lieu of education:

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in facility IT, electrical, or building systems.

  • Experience working with contractors and vendors in a construction environment.

  • Knowledge of facility IT systems integration with MEP infrastructure.

  • Understanding of commissioning processes for new facilities and renovations.

  • Ability to coordinate across multiple departments for successful project execution.

Position & Application Details
