Manager, Corporate Sanitation Programs

Massillon, OH (Hybrid Schedule)

TheCorporateManager of Sanitation Programs is responsible for supporting and improving sanitation, chemical, sanitary design, allergens, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs at Shearer's manufacturing facilities from the corporate standpoint. This role collaborates closely with facility teams and contractors to maintain food safety standards and regulatory compliance. The corporate manager ensures that Sanitation and IPM programs are in compliance with customer, State, and Federal Law, helping sites remain audit-ready and aligned with Shearer's Quality and Food Safety standards. Requires travel up to 50% to manufacturing facilities.

Your Seat at the Table:

Program Support & Execution



  • Support facility teams in verifying adherence to standardized cleaning and sanitation procedures across the manufacturing network.
  • Provide hands-on coaching to sanitation and pest control personnel at the plant level.
  • Performing site evaluations, audits, and improvements aligned with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
  • Monitoring and Analyzing Sanitation and IPM KPI's/trends.
  • Verify sites are maintaining and help execute sanitation and pest control programs to meet SQF, FSMA, and company expectations.
  • Coordinate assessment and support from third-party chemical and pest control vendors, ensuring proper program execution and compliance.


Training & Communication



  • Deliver training to site teams on SSOPs, sanitation practices, and pest prevention.
  • Monitor the execution of SSOPs and recommend improvements where needed.
  • Communicate key metrics and performance indicators to site and corporate stakeholders.
  • Maintain documentation and assist in preparing for audits and inspections.


Compliance & Auditing



  • Participate in internal sanitation audits and help prepare sites for 3rd party, customer, or regulatory audits.
  • Support sites in responding to audit findings and sanitation-related non-conformances through CAPA implementation.
  • Conduct regular reviews of sanitation and pest trends and follow up on action plans.


Operational Support



  • Provide input on cleaning chemical and equipment selection.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Quality teams on hygienic design and sanitary risk mitigation.
  • Support the Environmental Monitoring and IPM programs, assisting in the response to pest or pathogen-related issues.


Continuous Improvement



  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and sanitation efficiency initiatives, including water and chemical usage.
  • Help identify process improvements to reduce downtime or improve sanitation effectiveness.



What you Bring to the Table:



  • A bachelor's degree in a science-related field is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in sanitation, food safety, or quality assurance in food manufacturing.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience is required.
  • Certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, Pest Control, or Sanitation are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of sanitation practices, MSS, SAFETY, SSOPs, and food safety regulations (FSMA, FDA, SQF).
  • Good communication and training skills.
  • Ability to audit programs and coach for improvement.
  • Experience with sanitation chemicals, application tools, equipment, and safety handling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and inspect equipment in manufacturing settings.
