Responsibilities

Located in Whitehall, Michigan, the CNC Engineer - Tooling position specializes in prototyping and developing tooling for groundbreaking engines using innovative materials and processes. This role is based out of our state-of-the-art Howmet Research Center, and will be a pivotal player in the advanced Development Tooling Lab.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX for precise tool paths and high-quality surface finishes.
  • Select optimal cutting tools based on material and feature requirements.
  • Troubleshoot fixturing, programming, and tooling issues to ensure efficiency.
  • Support capital projects and collaborate with designers for manufacturing plans.
  • Maintain accurate programming documentation and revision control.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years CNC programming experience in tooling.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related fields.
  • Fluency with CAD/CAM software, preferably with Siemens NX.
  • Sound understanding of engineering drafting principles
  • Ability to collaborate with designers and die makers regarding design for manufacturing
