Central Sterile Supply-Educator

Job Description
The Central Sterile Supply educator is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation and ongoing educational needs and experiences in CSS. The CSS Educator provides support, education, guidance, and direction to the Central Sterile team in order to attain/maintain quality instrumentation, customer service and safe care to patients in clinical areas. The CSS Educator functions as an educational consultant within the Operating Rooms and CSS working to cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The educator provides supportive services directed towards achievement of competencies, certification, cross training, development, revision, training, and implementation of policies and procedures. The educator makes data driven decisions to create and implement standards across the enterprise including within policy and procedure documentation, best practices, and error analysis utilizing department tools. The CSS Educator incorporates knowledge in clinical practice and adult learning principles. The CSS Educator is responsible for facilitating the provision of sterile instruments through educational activities. The CSS Educator can analyze complex projects, consult and collaborate with all members of the health care team. The CSS Educator serves as a role model and resource for all staff development including supervisors, leads, staff and students within the unit/department/organization. This positions focus will also be on accomplishing strategic and tactical goals and initiatives in the organization under the direction of the CSS Managers.

Minimum Education Required
2-Year College Degree or equivalent education and experience.

Required Qualifications

Two year college degree or equivalent education and experience.

HSPA or CBSPD certification. Previous experience in instrument processing and sterilization experience in perioperative services required. Experience teaching or precepting in central sterile supply. Demonstrate expertise in staff education, sterile processing technician delivery, evidence-based practice and collaborates with other disciplines in professional development activities.
