SUMMARY: The Workout and Recovery Department seeks to minimize the Bank's losses associated with adversely graded commercial lending relationships by utilizing its collateral, loan documentation, industry trends and the legal system in an attempt to maximize recoveries. A Workout and Recovery Credit Products Officer assists the Special Assets Manager in the managing of a portfolio of criticized and classified loans from various lending groups throughout the Bank including but not limited to Corporate and Industrial (C&I), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Business Banking, Small Business (including SBA), Bridge Equipment Lending and Bridge Franchise Lending. The position supports the Special Asset Managers with credit review, analytics, documentation and loan monitoring responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

  • Risk Rating Management: Through ongoing portfolio management, monitor signs of deteriorating credit trends and make ongoing assessments relative to credit risk ratings (both positive and negative). Determine a Probability of Default (PD) and a Loss Given Default (LGD) dual risk rating using the tools / matrices provided by the Bank.
  • Prepare Spreads -- Prepare spreads in Moody's RiskCalc (C&I) or Moody's CMM (CRE) to aid Special Assets Manager and Line Management in determining whether to move forward with a request.
  • Determine financial information requirements -- Work with the Special Assets Managers to obtain all necessary information required for the maintenance of a portfolio.
  • Perform Borrower financial analysis -- Review and analyze Borrower financial information including corporate financial statements, tax returns, accounts payable and accounts receivable aging to determine Borrower financial condition and develop cash flow analysis.
  • Perform guarantor financial analysis -- Review and analyze personal financial information for guarantors including personal financial statements, tax returns, real estate owned schedules and liquidity statements to determine financial strength of guarantor.
  • Review and analyze all 3rd party reports -- Obtain all 3rd party reports and include findings in analysis of financial condition of Borrower or guarantor.
  • Identify and mitigate risks -- Work with Special Assets Managers to identify and mitigate all risks.
  • Collaborate in credit structuring -- Work with Special Assets Managers to restructure, modify and/or enter into forbearance agreements that serve the best interest of the Bank. Prepare approval packages for same.
  • Manage financial ticker items: Collect and review financial statements and covenant compliance and borrowing base worksheets from corporate customers.
  • Perform property and collateral inspections: Perform property and collateral inspections where applicable and prepare reports.
  • Process draw requests and extensions: Prepare and process extension requests and draw requests.
  • Conduct ongoing credit assessments/reviews: Complete annual, semi-annual or quarterly reviews as required. Prepare quarterly Criticized Loan Asset Reports where applicable. Perform ongoing portfolio reviews
  • Asset Management: Act as Backup or Secondary Officer to assist with managing assets and communicate with obligors relative to credit servicing including participating in credit related calls.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned/requested by senior/executive management.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree degree in business related field, or other acceptable alternative field required
EXPERIENCE

  • 2 - 3 years of Portfolio Manager experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good accounting skills developed through formal college undergraduate courses or through acceptable alternative means such as American Institute of Banking.
  • Good knowledge of loan documentation and enforcement.
  • Candidate should be detail oriented, demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn Bank spreading and credit monitoring software programs.
